ESL – Academic Advance Course

The Advanced level of the English as a Second Language (ESL) program at Epic College is designed for learners who have completed the Intermediate level and are ready to enhance their fluency, critical thinking, and professional communication. This level emphasizes academic writing, presentation skills, debate, and the mastery of complex grammar structures. Each module is 40 hours in duration and prepares students for real-world and academic language use.

Course Objectives

• To help students express opinions, negotiate meaning, and present arguments effectively.
• To develop critical reading and writing skills suitable for academic and workplace settings.
• To improve fluency and accuracy in complex grammar and advanced vocabulary use.
• To build confidence in formal speaking contexts such as presentations, debates, and interviews.

Methods of Assessment

• Coursework (40%) – Includes oral presentations, debate participation, written essays, analytical reading tasks, and vocabulary application exercises.
• Classroom Participation (20%) – Based on engagement, attendance, motivation, and leadership in discussions.
• Final Exam (40%) – Includes listening and reading comprehension, structured academic writing, and oral presentation or interview.

Achievement: Upon completion of the Advanced ESL level, students will be able to communicate fluently and accurately in academic, workplace, and global environments using advanced English structures and vocabulary.
