The French Level A program at Epic College covers both A1 (Beginner) and A2 (Elementary) levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). It is ideal for learners who are new to French or seeking to strengthen their foundational communication skills. The course focuses on the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities for real-world use in personal, academic, or travel settings.
Course Objectives
- Develop confidence using everyday expressions and conversational French.
- Participate in simple dialogues and respond to common questions and scenarios.
- Build comprehension of short texts and instructions.
- Write simple messages, personal information, and basic descriptions.
- Gain awareness of French-speaking cultures and customs.
Methods of Assessment
- Coursework (40%) – Includes quizzes, writing assignments, listening activities, and spoken practice.
- Participation (20%) – Based on attendance, engagement, and verbal interaction during class.
- Final Evaluation (40%) – Comprises a reading section, listening task, short writing activity, and oral interview.
Completion Outcome: Upon completion of French Level A, students will be able to communicate in simple French across a variety of everyday contexts, understand basic instructions and descriptions, and express themselves clearly using common vocabulary and phrases.
